This is a part time opportunity for tailors. Prior teachers experience is a plus. Spanish speaking is a helpful, although all teachers must be able to communicate in English, clearly.

Instructors report to the ESL Program Coordinator of Immigrant Advancement Matters (I.A.M.)
Essential Functions: ? Creates appropriate curriculum for Adult ESL classes; ? Plans, prepares and delivers lessons; ? Designs and produces teaching materials as well as adapts existing materials; ? Carries out assessments of students' needs; ? Plans schemes of work; ? Assesses students' progress; ? Keeps records; ? Attends staff meetings; ? Attends and contributes to training sessions; ? Collaborates with class and teachers; ? Coaches volunteers that assist with classroom activities and individual tutoring; ? Advises colleagues; ? Prepares information for site visits and other quality assurance procedures; ? Helps to draft and review institutional policies relating to the education of students with English as a second or additional language; ? Uses expertise in ESL instruction to advise I.A.M staff; ? Engages in continuing professional development; ? Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
? Strong management skills. ? Solid interpersonal communications and networking skills. ? Proficient in ESL strategies and techniques. ? Understanding of developmental process of learning and language acquisition. ? Experience in lesson planning and adapting materials to the needs of ESL Students. ? Ability to maintain appropriate and complete individual student records. ? Knowledge of Window based computer programs, especially Excel and Access. ? Ability to plan outreach efforts to non-English speakers. ? Strong organizational skills. ? Ability to handle stressful situations in a positive and pleasant manner. ? Ability to work Sundays and travel to Queens. ? Speaking knowledge of a second language (e.g. Spanish a plus).
Education: Bachelors in Education/ESL or related field preferred. Candidates with equivalent degree/certificate and experience will be considered
There are 2 Programs: Sundays 3-6pm in Flushing [2 Positions Available] Mondays & Wednesday in Astoria 7:30pm - 9:30pm [3 Positions Available] September to December
