Infant Caregiver
Location: Westwood, NJ

The Teacher's mission is to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. Teachers must create and implement lesson plans and lead the classroom team to successfully assess each child's development. They are responsible for the safety and well being of the children, fostering a deep caring relationship with families (parents and children) and ensuring that the classroom is managed in an organized and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
Follows and exemplifies the Rainbow Academy Circle of Care philosophy and Core Values.
Recognizes the needs of the children and takes care of them promptly.
Creates an atmosphere that is positive for learning and that stimulates critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making.
Writes and implements lesson plans that are appropriate to the age group involved in accordance with the Rainbow Academy Curriculum, Seedlings.
Observes and assesses students for creating and maintaining individual profiles, portfolios and parent conferences.
Maintains interaction with children at all times.
Understands the daily need for small group/whole group interactive learning.
Conveys a positive attitude at all times while working with the children, parents and other team members.
Conveys and follows philosophy of positive reinforcement and redirection.
Maintains a safe and clean atmosphere for the children at all times. All sanitary procedures are to be followed regarding diaper changes, potty learning, toys and classroom sterilization.
Collaborates well with the director, teammates, staff members and parents.
Recognizes that gossip is inappropriate and threatens the success of the team. Avoids such conversations.
Guides, encourages and includes teacher assistants in the daily routines and implementation of curriculum.
Partners with the parent to work as a team for the benefit of the child.
Updates parents regularly on the child's progress, including formal parent conferences on a twice a year basis
Is flexible and willing to help other team members.
Provides classroom leadership, clear direction and instructions for teacher assistants.

Qualifications
Prefer Associates degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification
CPR/First Aid (or be willing to acquire this)
Previous childcare or early education experience
Knowledge in basic Spanish and sign language helpful
