Achievement First is a charter school management organization started in July 2003 by the leaders of Amistad Academy, a high performing charter school in New Haven, CT. Summary
Achievement First is currently seeking a smart and motivated Database Architect to bring top-class data warehouse creation and management to a leading charter management organization committed to using data to drive instructional improvement in its classrooms. The Architect will play a critical role in enabling Achievement First schools and teams to access the information they need to take actions that increase student achievement and success. Working in collaboration with a partner organization's infrastructure team, the Architect will serve as AF's key organizational resource for defining technical requirements and developing and maintaining a usable data warehouse for analysis and reporting.

The Architect will also work closely with AF's product managers, school data experts and data analytics teams to encourage the use of data in schools and discover new uses for data to help improve student achievement. This position is the first on the new data warehousing team at AF, reports to the VP of Business Information Systems and has significant potential for career growth and breadth of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
? Develop, articulate and promulgate an architectural framework that supports strategic data integration, data warehousing, and business intelligence
? Gather technical requirements through interviews and analysis of existing applications and databases, and distill into meaningful deliverables
? Collaborate with partner organization's team to identify and capitalize on opportunities to share data infrastructure ideas and code
? Maintain, enhance, and evolve nascent data warehouse
? Work with and manage vendors during implementation and maintenance of operational data systems that feed into the data warehouse
? Work collaboratively with staff on other teams within AF, such as Data Strategies, Talent Development, and IT
? Mentor product support staff
? Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
? Strong relational database development skills: requirements, architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance.
? Deeply understand data warehouse concepts and expert in designing and implementing OLAP cubes (strongly prefer experience with SSAS and SSIS). Experience with multi-tenancy and scalability in a business intelligence context.
? Demonstrated knowledge of how to implement appropriate security measures in databases
? Ability to learn new areas of knowledge quickly and thoroughly
? Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization in person and virtually
? Talent for listening, asking effective questions, and synthesizing technical information into an understandable form
? Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently
? Familiarity with Tableau preferred
? Familiarity with SharePoint is preferred
? A sense of humor, the ability to find joy in hard work on a tough problem, and a passionate belief in education reform

Minimum Educational Level:
? Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Experience Required:
? 3+ years designing and implementing databases and data warehouses in business, education, or nonprofit environment, preferably using Microsoft SQL Server and Analysis Services
