DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking enthusiastic tutors who enjoy working with students and can provide 1 on 1 tutoring in MATH and ENGLISH. Tutors have the flexibility to schedule sessions during weekday evenings and/or weekends at students' homes. Tutoring opportunities are conveniently available in: JAMAICA, QUEENS.
COMPENSATION:
$23.00 per hour for NYC DOE certified teachers
$18.00 per hour for non-certified teachers/tutors
A TYPICAL SESSION MAY INCLUDE:
- Administering assessment tests
- Providing personalized instruction to each student
- Travel to students' homes
- Collaborating with parents to encourage involvement
THE IDEAL TUTOR:
- Knowledgeable of MATH and ENGLISH
- Patient, responsible and passionate about teaching
- Previous experience as an SES/NCLB tutor preferred
- Bilingual a plus
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Positive attitude, great energy, and professional demeanor
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have at least 60 earned college credits
- Must be fingerprinted with the Department of Education (DOE)- fees will be reimbursed if not already fingerprinted
- According to guidelines, we cannot consider anyone employed by the DOE unless they are a Certified Teacher/Substitute
