More infoBike and Roll NYC is searching Tour Guides for our upcoming season! Applicants should have a basic understanding of bike maintenance (i.e., fix a flat, adjust brakes, etc.) . You should especially be comfortable talking in front of groups of people, charismatic, outgoing, pleasant, well-spoken and have the ability to pick up and deliver facts about NYC history and current events quickly and accurately. We appreciate people who are flexible and like to work hard but have fun. It is definitely a benefit if you have guiding experience (especially in NYC) or other experience with public speaking/performance. Applicants need to be comfortable leading tours through NYC parks, over bridges, and through city streets. Besides working on bicycles (assembly of new bikes, repair of old bikes, etc), we also sell all of the above, and help customers both in person and over the phone.

Familiarity with bicycles and cycling is a key component of this job: whether road or trail oriented, our customers are enthusiasts in this sport and therefore know about our products. In order to be an addition to our staff you need to at least come in with a solid foundation/interest in cycling.

An ideal applicant has a solid background in cycling/bicycles, is able to interact with/sell to customers, work on bicycles, and navigate well on computer systems. An ability and willingness to learn is essential as well.

Qualifications:

-Interest/product knowledge in cycling/cycling products.
-Prior retail sales or customer service experience
-Enthusiastic and positive attitude
-Computer savvy: comfortable with website navigation, Microsoft applications
-Ability to communicate clearly on the phone and in email.
-Mechanical inclination***

***Though not all applicants need to be mechanically inclined or work on bicycles, it is a preferred qualification.
