WWAKE is seeking Fall 2013 interns in NYC!

NYC-based jewelry brand WWAKE is seeking part time and full time interns beginning immediately for the upcoming fall semester. We are a fast-growing jewelry label with a focus on contemporary fine jewelry and experimental costume jewelry. This will be an extremely hands-on experience with exposure to all aspects of running a small, progressive jewelry company.

General responsibilities will include:
- Assisting designer fitting and detailing of new pieces (both metal and mixed media)
- Basic jewelry cleaning and finishing
- Experimenting with new materials and techniques for upcoming collections
- Researching and sourcing for special projects
- Assisting on styling of lookbook and catalog shoots
- Ordering, picking up and dropping off materials in the jewelry district, as well as samples to and from the showroom
- Coordinating, packing and shipping orders
- Archiving and adjusting various material for buyers and press.

Qualified Candidate must:

- Be a proactive, organized person with attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Be passionate about contemporary art and design
- Love working with their hands and have a basic knowledge of jewelry construction. Sculpture and textiles backgrounds a plus
- Have familiarity with Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, and Google Docs
- Be available for 2 or more 5-hour days a week for a minimum of 3 months, though we are willing to accommodate varying schedules.

This is an invaluable opportunity for someone who is interested in learning the ins and outs of a start-up jewelry business. Hands-on designers with an entrepreneurial edge will get the most out of this internship.

Transportation for internship duties will be provided. This is an otherwise unpaid internship with the possibility of being hired onto a part time position with WWAKE. Course credit is available with prior approval.
