Join our fitness trainer discussion group, Fitness Trainers Club, and be a part of this unique opportunity to share and discuss views and experiences with like minds. Meetings will be held once per month, on Saturday mornings at 10am, in a brand new Medical Fitness Facility located in Midtown Manhattan, which is part of the most comprehensive Integrative Health facility in the U.S. Discussions will include anything and everything related to strength, conditioning, flexibility, and nutrition. This will also be a great opportunity for fitness trainers to learn more about the medical and sports medicine side of fitness, where our medical, sports medicine, and fitness staff remains at the forefront. We will include guest speakers/experts on occasion. Examples of topics: program design for various populations; how to include therapeutic/sports medicine guidelines as part of program design; exercise technique from a sports medicine perspective; case studies; how to determine start points, choice of exercise, and progressions when a client has a health or musculo-skeletal issue; how to perform thorough initial and ongoing assessments; questionable exercises commonly seen in the gym; how to teach and perform olympic lifts; a deeper understanding of many of the fitness world's accepted scientific guidelines; marketing and networking; ....and any other topic you can think of, as well as discussion of the latest "hot topic" article found in journals such as the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.
The atmsophere will be informal, roundtable discussion. Trainers who have areas of expertise are more than welcome to present to the group. There will be a meeting this coming Saturday, February 2nd, at 10am. We will get things started by discussing some sports medicine guidelines and how to include them as part of program design. There will be a $10 fee to cover the cost of using the facility. If interested please send an email and tell me a little about yourself, to include fitness-related education (degree, certifications), experience, and areas of expertise, if any.
