JOB DESCRIPTION:
I'm looking for a creative, upbeat and hard-working professional to assist me with promotional outreach and administrative upkeep at Dana McClure studio (danamcclure.com) located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I work across a variety of mediums from printmaking and mixed-media collage to textile design and products for the home. My studio practice includes art directing for business and cultural clients, pursuing self-initated projects, and working as a design educator at NYU and Parsons The New School for Design. I'd like to hire someone who is interested in learning more about these fields to join me in the studio a few hours per week (to star off with), primarily to help out with marketing efforts.
Please do not apply if you have no previous experience/education in the field of marketing as I'm looking for someone who is motivated, self-directed and can hit the ground running. Please review the job details below and email me if you feel that you're a good fit.
TIME & PAYMENT:
? 5 hours / week (will start out in the studio on Fridays from 1-6 but could lead to more hours and a more flexible schedule working remotely from home)
? March - June (possibly longer if all goes well)
? $15/hr, $300/month
Ideal candidates will have following skills:
- Basic knowledge of the art/design industry (particularly retail/online sales for fine art prints, textiles and products for the home)
- Highly motivated individual with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Prior experience in direct sales/marketing (basic level skills)
- Has dealt with multiple responsibilities (basic level skills)
- Be organized, self-directed and able to work in an efficient manner
- Comfortable with using Web 2.0 technologies -- Wordpress Blogs, Facebook, MailChimp, Google Contacts
- Good understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
MARKETING
- development of a comprehensive marketing plan to guide the following tasks:
- press kit & press releases
- online submissions (to blogs, online magazines, news sites)
- print media advertising (magazines, product roundups, newspapers)
- submit to online press release distribution sites
- free samples and donations (for photo shoots, editors, buyers)
- distribution of printed materials and leave-behinds
- research promo opportunities & options to submit work
- maintain promo calendar (submission deadlines, store discounts, seasonal/holiday outreach, call for entries, press release launches)
STUDIO UPKEEP & ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
- organizing studio materials and restocking items
- categorizing tear sheets and visual references
- record keeping?(artwork sales, work submissions, outreach to retailers)
- photo documentation (process shots, student work,?product shots)
- help filling online orders / packaging & shipping
- update and add to contact list (via Google Contacts)
- maintain mailing list (via MailChimp)
- periodic check-in with stockists
- moderating blog comments?
- sourcing, vendor & retailer research (printers, paper, fabric)
- image scans?/ cutting out collage assets for future assembly
