NATURE OF WORK
The Maintenance Worker provides minor repair and maintenance services in CHDC-managed buildings, in-house rehab projects and other repair and maintenance assignments as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete all minor repairs in CHDC managed buildings and for completing in-house rehab projects.
Clean all public areas of assigned buildings, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, shining, buffing
Garbage removal per NYC Dept. Sanitation schedule.
Clean vacant apartments to prepare for renting or temporary relocation.
Assist Building Managers in such work as moving tenants during relocation.
Accept deliveries and/or pick up materials and equipment when necessary.
Do finishing work in apartments, including paint and installing VCT tile or linoleum.
Make minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, plastering and exterior repairs.
Supplement rehab crews or contractors.
Undertake minor rehab projects, which may include minor public area work (i.e.: basements, roof, hallways), sheetrocking, carpentry work etc.
Prepare buildings for Section 17 or Section 8 inspections.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, tiling and general repairs.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Familiarity with tenement buildings and moderate rehabilitation projects. Spanish speaking a plus.
