JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a combined position which starts as a Recreation Coordinator (RC) for 2 weeks and grows into an Assistant Director (AD) position for 2.5 weeks. The total position is for 4.5 weeks.
Recreation Coordinator Duties: ? Participate in afternoon and evening activities and excursions daily ? Plan assigned sightseeing excursion transportation routes and schedule ? Lead excursions throughout NYC, identifying famous and historical landmarks, buildings, areas ? Monitor and supervise students/dorms throughout the night ? Work closely with international group leaders and staff to produce program ? Attend daily planning meetings
Assistant Director Duties: ? Live on-campus with program ? In conjunction with the Center Director, plan, operate and supervise summer ESL vacation program on university campus ? Manage and direct Recreation Coordinators ? Plan, execute and supervise on and off-campus afternoon and evening activities ? Organize and monitor transportation for all groups ? Manage all airport transfers ? Manage linen delivery and weekly exchange ? Work within budget restrictions ? Represent AETS to visiting overseas representatives ? Liaise with university staff and outside vendors ? Supervise staff to ensure student safety at all times ? Supervise summer staff to ensure quality of program is maintained ? Create positive environment to ensure student satisfaction ? Report directly to Center Director
QUALIFICATIONS: ? Bachelor's degree required ? Previous camp work experience necessary ? Skills in sports or activities, (i.e. basketball, soccer, swimming, volleyball), games, team/group activities ? Excellent communication skills ? Demonstrable organizational skills ? Excellent multi-tasking skills ? Expert knowledge of local NJ and NYC public transportation ? Strong familiarity with NYC sightseeing activities ? Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-cultural groups ? Cell phone necessary ? Personal computer necessary
TRAINING: American Education and Travel Services will provide one weekend training session May 18-May 19, 2013 in San Francisco, plus materials, manuals, etc. to operate, and 24-hour support. Must also be available for Recreation Coordinator training meetings. The 1st meeting will be held, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Seton Hall. The second meeting will be in NYC with the date and time TBD.
WAGES: Recreation Coordinator: $430 per week x 2 weeks + on campus room and board. Assistant Director: $700 per week x 2.5 weeks + on-campus room and board.
NOTE: Only candidates who have lived or worked in NYC or near the University will be considered as local staff provides added value to students. AETS does not provide for travel or moving expenses. Must be able to provide proof of ability to work in the U.S.
CONTRACT DATES: Seton Hall University: 4.5 weeks total contract Recreation Coordinator: June 30 - July 12, 2013 (2 weeks) Assistant Director: July 13 -- July 30, 2013 (2.5 weeks)
