We are a small gem of a shop that sells unique local designers and curated vintage in Bedstuy, Brooklyn while having a curated art gallery. We've been here for 2 years and have amassed a lot of knowledge that we're willing to share with the perfect candidate(s). We are looking for 3 interns, both that can commit to two days a week 1-8pm or 11-6pm. This is an unpaid internship, but we will provide snacks and occasional iced coffees and cold beers! The position could lead to a paid position in the future. Our ideal candidate must be hard-working, motivated, creative, enthusiastic and a team player. Ideally you are aware of fashion trends, but not a slave to them.
Our ideal intern is experienced in or at least very enthusiastic about at least three of the following:
*clothing construction (patternmaking, draping, sewing, tailoring)
*promotion (ads, product photography, online promotion, online shop, neighborhood canvassing, twitter, facebook, tumblr, etsy, ebay)
*vintage (buying, cleaning, pricing, merchandising, researching clothing, writing a description of vintage pieces)
*local designers (community outreach, networking, support, curating new designers in store)
*retail (the behind-the-scenes of what goes into running a indie boutique: books, sales goals, etc)
*merchandising (window displays, organization, trend forcasting, etc)
*crafts (crochet, embroidery, fabric dyeing and manipulation, jewelry making, etc.)
*events (researching, planning, and executing a fashion/art/ music event in house)
*tv/film (interviewing, filming, writing 30 - 60 second video clips around fashion, grafitti, culture, lifestyle)
We are particularly looking for applicants that are very versed in social media and imaging programs such as photoshop.
Also, must have own laptop, digital camera, and metrocard.
