CALL FOR ARTISTS/ BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION (M55 Art Gallery)
Exhibit Dates: Sept 26th -- Oct 11th, 2012
Deadline for submissions: Thursday, Sept 20th, 2012
Notification date: Friday, Sept 21st, 2012
Opening reception: Sat, Sept 29th, 2012. 6 to 8pm.
Venue: M55 Art Gallery (44-02 23rd Street Long Island City, NY. 11101)
Eligibility: Black & White Photography.
Artworks must not exceed Size requirements (including frame): no wider than 30 inches; no longer than 30 inches. The Gallery is responsible for all sales, and will retain a 25% commission from the sale of art work.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All entries must be submitted electronically*. *Digital file submissions only, 5 samples labeled (Last Name, First Initial, 1), (Last Name, First Initial, 2) etc and must be in JPEG or PDF format, resolution set to 72 dpi, no larger than 800 X 800 pixels and no larger than 2MB.Please number images to correspond to image list.
- Artist resume Artist Statement (150 word maximum) and if possible a URL to their website. (send to info@m55art.org)
FEE
Only selected artist to participate in the exhibition must pay a $100 USD fee. Payment can be made cash/check at the gallery
NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than Friday, Sept 21st, 2012
DELIVERY OF WORK
1. To Drop off work: Hand-delivered work will be accepted at the gallery on the following dates: Saturday, Sept 22 and Monday, Sept 24th from 12 - 6pm. (Gallery Hrs.)
*Packaging must be removed from the gallery at the time of delivery.
RETURN
To Pick up work: Hand-delivered work must be picked up on Friday, Oct 12th and Saturday ,Oct 13th from 12 - 6pm. (Gallery Hrs.)
LIABILITY
Great care and caution will be exercised in the handling of all art work. Artists are responsible for insuring their own pieces if they wish. The Gallery is not responsible for any loss or damage to work while on the premises or in transit to or from the gallery. The submission of a work of art to this exhibition shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.
SALES COMMISSION
Sales commission of 25% is required by the gallery for all Artworks sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price. Artworks must be priced in accordance with the artist's current pricing structure.
PRIVACY POLICY
Artist contact information (address, telephone, etc.) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists and is not preserved in any database. All artist emails will be added to our future events announcement email list. Artists who do not wish to be on the email list may unsubscribe when they receive the first announcement.
ABOUT M55 ART
M55 Art began in 1969 as 55 Mercer Gallery in Soho, and moved to its current location in newly renovated galleries on the ground level of the Long Island City Art Center in 2008. It is an artist-initiated gallery dedicated to bringing contemporary art exhibitions to the public.

Red Door Spas is currently accepting resumes for a highly qualified and talented Makeup Artists for its Garden City & Bellmore spas. As a Makeup Artist you'll be responsible for providing a high standard of make-up applications and retail sell-through to customers. Displays extensive knowledge of make-up products and application procedures. Develops and implements effective retail selling strategies and promotional activities. Responsible for merchandising and stock control needs of retail area.
You'll be expected to cultivate new guest relationships and ensure retention of existing guests. Apply make up to guests, recommend homecare items. Provides makeup consultations, evaluate client's skin tone and other features to determine the most appropriate make-up products and color scheme Assists in planning and organizing retail counters and displays for the retail area, according to plan-o-gram. Maintains clean work area and ensures all work instruments are sanitized. Ensures make-up station is in accordance with Elizabeth Arden standards.
Ideal candidate is outgoing, self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a professional appearance and a passion for delivering exceptional guest and technical service. Applicants must possess experience in makeup/cosmetic field and/or retail sales. Appropriate training and certification. Audience:
Non-native English speaking children worldwide in transition from picture books to reading books
Objective:
Create 150 volume chapter books that contain 1500 stories to aid in the development of analytical thinking and English speaking skills for children by evoking creativity and emotions via thought-provoking, open-ended English texts and visually stimulating artworks.
Candidates:
Visual artists of all backgrounds and specialties. If your artwork could be statically displayed alongside texts to evoke emotional response from readers, you are a candidate.
Please note: We are NOT solely looking for trained illustrators. We are looking for artists of all expertise i.e. sculpture, painting, crafts, & etc.
Description:
Initial assignment will be a paid trial to complete one story. If we are on the right page, you will be assigned 4 more stories for which you will be responsible for approximately 4 cuts to accompany the texts of each story.
Note: This is a great opportunity to work on a project that is conducted by a world-renown publishing company that specializes in education. Your work will gain a worldwide exposure upon completion.
