The Stasis Foundation Biotechnology Research Park (Stasis Research Park) will be a world-class biotech facility located in Comfort, (near San Antonio), Texas. The Foundation offers a unique 3-6 month long fall paid internship program for American undergraduate & graduate students, and recent graduates from varying disciplines interested in learning about biotechnology, global health, and social and bioethical issues in extreme life extension. Interns must reside in Comfort, TX where the site is located, housing and utilities are included.

There are two parts to the primary mission to the Stasis Research Park: biotech research and the cryostorage of biological materials. The design and development of cooling systems and storage devices for the cryopreservation & cryostorage of human organs for transplantation purposes , materials to support fertility; tissue for regenerative medicine; DNA, including the DNA of near extinct species; whole mammalian organisms including humans after legal death for whom all medical procedures have failed. The Stasis Research Park is owned and managed by the Stasis Foundation, a federally tax exempt 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable corporation that conducts health and medical research.

A collaborative team of intern students under the direction by either Architect Stephen Valentine, or Prof. John Lobell, and will work on research projects which will explore new ideas essential for their long term application in biomedicine and biotechnology but also targeting innovation and suggested solutions.

Possible Internship Research projects for this upcoming period include:

1. Survey the literature relating to the social and ethical implications of extreme life extension.
2. Research of cryopreservation, medical nanotechnology, organ banking, and the
preservation of near extinct species.
3. The development of a database of organizations and individuals pertinent to the research goals
of the Stasis Foundation.
4. An intern can make a proposal of their particular interest for an independent study relating to the Foundation's mission and we will consider that option.

Applicant must have means of transportation (automobile). Interns will be paid $1200. at the completion of each full month (free housing is included). Interns must live on the property during weekdays (weekends are optional). Hours are from 9-5 (occasionally longer hours when advisers are present on property).

School Credit: The Stasis Foundation can work with you to attempt to arrange credit from your school for work done.

These internships provide students with the opportunity to learn about pertinent issues in the fields mentioned above and gain skills in establishing bibliographies and/or databases in the above fields. A confidentiality agreement and a drug test will be required for this position. Interviews will start Monday, July 16 in Comfort, TX.
