We are currently working to have a "Right To Know" law in NY for when sewage overflows occur. This normally happens after heavy rain and snow events, because LI's antiquated sewage systems can't handle the excess. It isn't just disgusting when sewage overflows into our waterways, streets and communities, it is dangerous to our public health. We are also working to ban the three most common pesticides, out of over a hundred found in wells across the island, that are found in our drinking water. Long Islanders have enough on our plate without having to worry about what toxins are in our glass of water.
