1. FZAD Architecture + Design is a ten person office that does creative retail and residential interior projects using Revit and 3D Studio Max and Google Sketch Up. We use 3D in our presentations using Google Sketch, Revit and 3D Max. As an Interior Designer you need to have an understanding of materials and finishes and how to apply them to renderings. In addition you will also need to be able to understand how to write furniture estimates.
2. FZAD has a year around internship program organized around the school year semester for Interior Design and Decorating.
3. The basic skill set is to be able to draft and render using Revit and 3D studio Max.
4. The program is designed to give the intern a well-rounded knowledge of the profession by participating in the major aspects of the profession. Here is a brief introduction of our intern program:
a. There are 5 paid professionals at FZAD.
b. In addition we have a finance officer, two senior designers.
c. The intern will be a direct assistant for a period of time to the principal Design Partner of the Firm, Pamela Zonsius.
d. The intern will attend a lecture every Friday about some aspect of the profession and FZAD will provide lunch.
e. The Intern is required to take a home study course to become student member of the Construction Specification Institute where they learn how to write specs and how the profession is organized.
f. From time to time there may be openings in the firm for hire and at FZAD we typically hire from the intern program.
5. For the first month FZAD pay for a train pass of 112.00 a month.
6. If the intern feels comfortable and are applying themselves FZAD will "hire" at the rate of $ 8.00 an hour starting their 2nd month.
7. The internships should last about three months to nine months depending upon your goals. So, if you think of yourself as an independent thinker who is skillful and quick to make decisions then we are the place for you. You must love what you do and be passionate about it. You must love all of the detail, finishes and furniture similar to a Wrightian level of appreciation to detail.
