TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT AGENTS - NYPD

As a NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agent you will perform a variety of duties related to traffic enforcement. When required, an agent issues summonses to illegally parked vehicles, directs traffic at an intersection, testifies at administrative hearing offices and court, prepares required reports, and may operate a motor vehicle. Traffic Enforcement Agents at assignment level III are required to operate a tow truck. At all assignment levels, personnel may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

To qualify you MUST meet the following qualification:
? Possess a High School diploma or GED
? Meet certain physical and medical requirements prior to appointment, including drug/alcohol screening and psychological assessment.
? Must possess a Driver's License valid in the State of New York. Candidates for assignment level III must possess a towing endorsement in addition to regular license.
? Candidates must be NYC residents (5 boroughs) within 90 days of appointment.
? Be 18 years of age at time of appointment.
? Pay $75 for Fingerprint investigation

Salary Information:
? Level I $29,217 ($33,600 after 2 years)
? Level II $36,210
? Level III $39,911
? Level IV $40,576

Base salaries are increased by night shift differential, uniform allowance, holiday pay and overtime (overtime is never guaranteed).

Advancement opportunities exist both within the Traffic Enforcement Agent title series and through promotion to non-civilian status as a Police Officer, if you meet the educational requirements. The first step is to take the exam: The test is available at the NYC Testing Centers.
