ESL Program Coordinator (Astoria, Queens)

Essential Functions:
? Oversee instructional services;
? Serve as a liaison between the Executive Director, Teachers and Students;
? In conjunction with the Executive Director, lead ESL bi-weekly staff meetings;
? Teach class in the absence of an ESL Instructor;
? Lead the planning efforts of conversation mixers and workshops, happening monthly;
? Ensure that instructional staff understands the overall goal of the program and that all lessons are geared towards its purpose;
? Responsible for developing and updating curriculum, textbook, equipment selection and instructional materials;
? Responsible for faculty development;
? Help enforce I.A.M. ESL Program rules;
? Oversee assistant coordinator and maintenance staff to ensure facility is in good condition before and after each class.

Other responsibilities include:
? Ordering and distributing assessment and instructional materials;
? Supervising the student registration process;
? Monitoring students attendance and analyzing student performance data from ESL instructors;
? Reviewing and reporting program data to the Executive Director;
? Planning and implementing staff development;
? Helping maintain overall program quality;
? Managing waitlist and student intake;
? Data management;
? Maintaining program records and statistics;
? Performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills
? Strong management skills;
? Solid interpersonal communications and networking skills;
? Proficient in ESL strategies and techniques;
? Understanding of developmental process of learning and language acquisition;
? Experience in lesson planning and adapting materials to the needs of ESL Students;
? Ability to maintain appropriate and complete individual student records;
? Knowledge of Window based computer programs, especially Excel and Access;
? Ability to plan outreach efforts to non-English speakers;
? Strong organizational skills;
? Ability to handle stressful situations in a positive and pleasant manner;
? Ability to work Sundays and travel to Queens;
? Speaking knowledge of a second language (Spanish a plus).

Education
Bachelors in Education/ESL or related field preferred. Candidates with equivalent degree/certificate and experience will be considered.

Program:
Mondays & Wednesdays 7:30pm - 9:30pm
4 hours a week
