Brooklyn Kindergarten Society (BKS), a non-profit organization which manages five day care centers/preschools in low income neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking to hire a highly-qualified Curriculum Specialist.

BKS was founded in 1891 and since its founding has provided excellent care and education to the children of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville and Crown Heights, Brooklyn. We were rated one of the top seven school readiness programs in Greater New York (out of 1,700 organizations reviewed) by Root Cause Foundation. We provide full day, year round care for children who are stimulated by the various curriculum studies initiated by them and guided by the developmentally appropriate principles of the Creative Curriculum.

We are currently seeking a Curriculum Specialist who would join our Curriculum and Instruction department in supporting staff to make a measurable difference in the lives of low income children.

Curriculum Specialist sample job duties:

Provide support at assigned BKS centers specifically by:
o Modeling developmentally appropriate and best teaching practices
o Developing curriculum studies collaboratively with teaching teams
? Assisting with staff development and individual professional development planning
? Assisting with attainment and maintenance of NAEYC accreditation and Quality Stars ratings
? Assisting staff in preparing for ECERS and CLASS observations
o Providing specific support to center directors and teachers attainment of child level goals
o Reviewing and assessing individual class/teacher progress with implementation of Common Core Standards (UPK), Head Start performance standards and Teaching Strategies GOLD objectives

Qualifications:
-Master's degree in ECE
-NYS certification (N-6 or B-2)
-Minimum of 3 years teaching experience (0-8 year olds)
-Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, preferably in a preschool setting
-Knowledge and experience with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Head Start performance standards, Common Core -Standards (Pre-K) and Developmentally Appropriate Practice
-Familiarity with adult learners
-Willingness to collaborate as part of a team
