Mathnasium of Scarsdale is looking for exceptional Math instructors.

Mathnasium is the industry leader in providing supplemental math education to children in 2nd, through 12th grade. We are looking for exciting and inspiring instructors that have a strong mathematical background and/or math teaching experience. The ideal Mathnasium instructor loves to teach, is passionate about math, is warm, caring, has a sense of humor and an outgoing personality. Mathnasium instructors are open to learning new teaching methods and thinking outside the box. Instructors must be proficient in Elementary Math through Algebra. Knowledge of Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics preferred.

The Mathnasium approach is to use sophisticated techniques to determine, with great accuracy, what a student knows and does not know. Next, we tailor-make a personalized and prescriptive learning program. Each student follows the program with the help of specially trained Mathnasium math instructors who provide instruction, and lots of warm encouragement. For proof of progress we rely on the student's report card, independent tests, and parent testimony to measure the speed and magnitude of improvement in math skills, numerical thinking, and attitude.

Requirements:
Math literacy test.
Background check.
Has or is completing a degree in math or math related field (physics, engineering, economics, finance).
Excellent academic credentials (official transcripts must be provided), and a passion for math.
Excellent communication and verbal skills with a fun sense of humor and an upbeat personality.
Passion and commitment to working with children and advancing their education.
Be available to work at least two days per week (Monday - Thursday 12-8pm, Saturday 9-5pm).
Must be a team player.
Must be able to commit to one year minimum, including over the Summer and school breaks.

Responsibilities:
To bring math to life for center students.
Evaluating and rewarding student progress.
Instructing 2nd-12th grade students fostering success (preschool to 1st grade camp program coming this summer).
Explain and illustrate math concepts using a variety of strategies and techniques for different types of learners.
Guiding and checking work.
Communicating with parents.
Assisting center directors to maintain a clean, organized and productive learning environment.

Compensation will be based on eduction, experience, and completion of training ($12-18/hr).

Mathnasium of Scarsdale is the first of a multi-center expansion throughout lower Westchester. Anticipated April 2013 opening. Continued long- term employment and future advancement opportunities will become available.
