JOB CLUB COORDINATOR/ BUSINESS TEACHER PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Children's Aid Society (CAS) -- Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program and the Urban Assembly Institute for Math and Science are partnering to deliver an award winning, evidenced based, holistic program that integrates the nationally acclaimed Carrera Program into the Institute for Math and Science for Girls.. The CAS-Carrera program includes (7) fundamental components: Education; Employment; Self-Expression; Lifetime Individual Sports; Family Life and Sexuality Education; Mental Health; and Medical and Dental Care. JOB DESCRIPTION: A key function of the Business Teacher is to teach middle school students about the world of work and careers, develop basic work-related skills, learn principles behind banking and savings and participate in business activities that will expose them to elements of entrepreneurship and earning potential. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Conduct weekly structured learning experiences about the world of work and careers using the Junior Achievement curriculum for middle school ? Organize business activities that will expose teens to elements of entrepreneurship, small business ownership and earning potential; activities may include career exploration opportunities, learning the principles of banking and managing savings accounts, role playing proper etiquette for job interviews, and learning skills and responsibilities expected in the working world ? Keep accurate records of attendance for the purpose of providing stipends connected with participation in Job Club; ensure that all teens in the program have an open and active bank account and schedule regular bank trips ? When appropriate, develop community service activities and entrepreneurial/ stipend related activities ? Collaborate with other component staff on opportunities that reinforce learning associated with the employment component MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ? Bachelor's degree in Business or other related field ? Preferred qualifications include candidates with experience working in a school-based setting, and/or classroom experience
Education Required
-Teaching financial literacy using age and stage material from Junior Achievements and other financial literacy resources -Developing entrepreneurial projects, and teaching students to produce, sell and market -Administrative duties include opening of bank accounts and teaching stewardship of money
