senior PHP programmer with a passion for web development to join our team. This
position will involve designing and building web interfaces, web applications, and
web services, as well as a full-stack understanding of the web. Senior knowledge or
experience in these areas is required. A successful candidate will work in harmony
with other team members and management team to ensure development of
systems and tools that will make Union Street Media efficient.

Desired Skills & Experience:
? 5+ years experience with PHP development in a LAMP environment
? Advanced knowledge and experience working with MySQL, JavaScript and
jQuery, CSS, and HTML.
? Experience with virtualized server setups
? Portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of PHP and application
architecture
? Experience debugging performance issues in a large scale production
environment
? Ability to adhere to existing development standards as well as develop new
standards
? Strong team-focused mentality; experience working with web development
teams
? Ability to communicate well with people of all technical ability levels
? Ability to estimate project work time
? Strong attention to detail

Role & Responsibilities:
? Design and build web interfaces, web applications, and web services
? Configure and tune web and database servers
? Create backend CMS applications/modules
? Work with APIs for various data provider services
? Troubleshoot issues as they occur
? Educate fellow developers on technical best practices
? Improve and implement technical processes
? Modernize and improve legacy (PHP4) code
? Understand scalability concerns
