1 On 1 Academic Tutors is holding an OPEN INTERVIEW EVENT (job fair) to fill open TUTOR positions (description below). The job fair will be held at the following location and time:

Date: Saturday, March 31st, 2012.
Time: 10am - 2:00pm.
Location: 298 5th Avenue, 5th Floor
New York, NY 10001

1 On 1 Academic Tutors is an established educational organization that partners with families and communities to empower youth through education. Our free tutoring program not only helps students improve on exams, but also helps them develop confidence, study skills, and a love of learning so they can succeed on their own. DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking enthusiastic TUTORS who enjoy working with students in grades K - 12 and can provide 1 on 1 tutoring in MATH and ENGLISH for students in those grades.
Tutors have the flexibility to schedule sessions during weekday evenings and/or weekends at students' homes.
Tutoring opportunities are conveniently available in: Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens!

A TYPICAL SESSION MAY INCLUDE:
- Administering assessment tests
- Providing personalized instruction to each student
- Travel to students' homes
- Collaborating with parents to encourage involvement

THE IDEAL TUTOR:
- Knowledgeable of all levels of Reading/Writing & Math, from grades K-12
- Bilingual tutors preferred (fluency in Spanish & English is a major plus!)
- Patient, responsible and passionate about teaching
- Previous experience as an SES/NCLB tutor preferred
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Positive attitude, great energy, and professional demeanor
- Willingness to travel is a plus

WORK SCHEDULE:
- Minimum commitment of 2-3 hours per week, per student assigned
- You will be working closely with the parents of your students to arrange a schedule that works for all parties

COMPENSATION:
-$23.00 per hour for New York City Department Of Education certified teachers and substitute teachers
-$18.00 per hour for non-certified teachers/tutors

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have at least 60 earned college credits
- Must be fingerprinted with the Department of Education (DOE)
- Ability to tutor all levels of Reading/Writing & Math, from grades K-12
- Knowledge of HIGH SCHOOL MATH and ENGLISH is a major plus!
- According to guidelines, we cannot consider anyone employed by the DOE unless they are a Certified Teacher/Substitute
- Must be able to use the Internet, send/receive e-mails, & scan and upload documents using a scanner
