Design and Engineering Intern (Drafting, Specifications and Product Development)
We're a rapidly growing company in the traditional metalworking industry, serving the interior design and architecture trades. We design and manufacture our own high-end products, as well as buy in custom parts for assembly. We operate in a newly LEED -renovated factory in Brooklyn and seek a qualified Mechanical Engineering Student to assist in our Design & Engineering department. We are a friendly, fun, and progressive, environmentally committed company.
Opportunities:
1. Develop a broad knowledge of metal process engineering, fabrication, and assembly operations: Foundry work, Traditional and CNC Machining, Sheetmetal: Spinning, Rolling, Brake-work, Forming, Brazing, Welding, and other hot joining techniques, Also gain experience in surface finishing such as: electroplating, automatic and manual polishing, & patinas.
2. Gain experience with fabrication, while this is not a machinist or fabrication position, we provide opportunities and encourage you to work on the shop floor.
3. Research: automation, optics, energy efficiency, methods of and providers of metalworking
4. Interfacing with Production, Project management, and Sales departments.
The ideal candidate should have:
1. Superior organizational and communication skills.
2. Two years of college towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design
3. Working knowledge of Solidworks.
