Sessions will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Monday-Thursday from July 23 to August 17. Participants will meet at Columbus Circle on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Thursday locations will vary and may be in any one of the 5 boroughs. Each session will include a workout followed by a clinic. Tentative special events include a 10 mile or 5k in Connecticut (Sunday August 5th ) and Percy Sutton Harlem 5k (tentatively August 25th).
Responsibilities:
? Review applications and work with committee to select participants
? Mange paperwork such as all necessary waivers and medical information
? Create an appropriate, engaging and challenging workout plan, with input and review from the NYRR team, that addresses all participant levels
? Attend and actively coach each session, providing both overall guidance and specific one on one instruction
? Coordinate and effectively use assistant coach and college pace buddies/mentors
? Work with the NYRR team to organize clinic sessions
? Manage all logistics, including having snacks at each session, having rain date plans, and communicating with participants
? Foster participants' sprit and enjoyment of the sport as well as their talent
? Perform other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
? Experience creating cross country training plans and coaching high school aged kids
? Proven reliability
? CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain certification through NYRR sponsored training)
Preferences:
? Undergraduate degree and two+ years of work experience
? Heart, humor and a commitment to our youth and community services mission
This is a part time temporary position beginning in early April with most of the hours coming in mid-July through August.
