More infoThe Prospect Park Alliance currently seeks one nine-month, one year-round and several hours-variable part-time groundskeepers to provide maintenance and upkeep of the Parade Ground and its facilities.

Responsibilities:
? Maintain grounds by performing a combination of cutting lawns; trimming and edging around walks, fences, flower beds and walls; pruning shrubs and trees; watering or spraying lawns, shrubs and trees with fertilizer or insecticides; planting grass, flowers, trees and shrubs; cleaning out drainages ditches and culverts
? Maintain and monitor athletic fields including natural grass and artificial turf grooming, clay infields, checking field permits and interacting with field users
? Operate power tools and tractors equipped with attachments such as mower, fertilizer spreader and lawn roller
? Clean and remove trash and debris at all entrances, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, gutters, planters, etc. on a daily basis
? Operate mobile street vacuum equipment in execution of duties at specified intervals
? Paint and assist in repairs of fences, gates, benches, tables, etc. May clean comfort stations, offices, storage and workshop areas by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing
? Assist with snow and ice removal operation
? Interact with public to provide information/enforce Park rules and regulations
? Other job related duties as assigned

The schedule for the groundskeeper positions is flexible. The nine-month groundskeeper position generally runs from March-November with the possibility of extension to a year-round position. The salary for these positions is $10.00-11.50/hour.

Qualifications:
Candidates for the groundskeeper positions must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a license valid in the state of New York and the physical capacity to perform tasks and safely operate equipment and power/hand tools. The ability and desire to work outside in all weather elements is a must. Must possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions, work independently and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public.

The nine-month and year-round groundskeeper positions are eligible for benefits, including a tax-deferred 403(b) plan. The Prospect Park Alliance is an equal opportunity employer.
